What a mess!  Here we have two monolithic companies going toe to toe and looking for that knockout punch.  Apple has done a fantastic job so far to establish itself as the winner in the courts and it is continuing on numerous other fronts in an effort to annihilate its Korean counterpart Samsung.  I certainly don’t blame them in their efforts to defend their patents.

Here comes the dilemma, the real battle or war has yet to begin.  The real war is not between Apple and Samsung.  The eventual bloodbath or peace negotiations will be between the two US giants being Apple and Google.  Apple’s marketing machine and it’s legal team has done great so far but, is it enough to stave off the oncoming barrage of companies using Google’s android OS such as Samsung, HTC, Acer, LG, Motorola, Panasonic, Sony, Sony Ericsson, Alcatel and countless others.

I’ve read and heard countless scenarios from all the experts on what they think will happen but they all seem to lack the insight that if Apple is to overcome it’s shortcomings against all the above companies using Android OS, it will have to create and produce various phone lines and models.  The pickings are very thin when it comes to Apple products in comparison to companies like HTC and Samsung which carry a wealth of options.

I really like Apple but the selection of flavors coming from the other companies utilizing Google’s Android OS is exciting and the innovation bar is only going to increase.  I think the consumer is in for a whirlwind era of innovation when it comes to smartphones, tablets and ultrabooks.  By the way PC’s and laptops are a thing of the past.

Wait!  In all fairness I’ve left out the sleeping giant MS windows OS who is working diligently to turn this two way battle into a free for all scenario.  Tell me what you think!
